Acutonics® is similar to acupuncture, but without needles. Instead, precision calibrated tuning forks are set into vibration by the practitioner and then applied to specific acupuncture and acupressure points. The sound waves created by the vibration of the forks travel along the Meridian and Chakra systems of the body to promote healing and inner harmony.
AMMA Therapy® is useful in the treatment of many conditions. In AMMA Therapy®, the therapist mostly uses circular digital pressure and point manipulation to move stagnant energy in the body, thereby facilitating the release of muscular contraction. To offer the most effective treatment possible, Kenny prefers to meet with prospective AMMA clients prior to their actual session (the initial consultation is free of charge) so he can assess their clinical needs.
Cups are applied to the skin using a suction pump that is attached to the rounded end of the cups, causing a vacuum that pulls the skin upward on the inside of the cups. The intent is to open the pores, which, in turn, stimulates blood flow, balances and aligns the flow of energy, breaks up blockages, and ultimately draws out toxins from the body.
Deep tissue massages are not the same as "deep pressure" massages. Deep tissue massages are administered to treat specific musculoskeletal disorders or complaints. The therapist uses a specific set of techniques and strokes and targets the muscles causing the client's problems. "Deep pressure" massages are administered with sustained firm pressure throughout the massage.
Kenny is certified in the Kurashova Institute's KUREDTM treatment for fibromyalgia. This is a non-invasive, painless treatment. Rather than focusing on the 18 classic tender points, the KUREDTM technique targets the central nervous system through specific massage strokes, helping to alleviate many of the client's symptoms.
Basalt stones are heated to an appropriate temperature and then incorporated into the massage. The stones are placed on key points of the client's body, and are also used, as an extension of the therapist's hands, to add heat-induced depth to the massage strokes. The client feels a sensation of comfort and warmth as the heat generated from the stones penetrates, soothes and relaxes the muscles.
The practitioner assesses the client's muscles to identify patterns of imbalance and then administers stretches and release techniques to bring the muscle groups into balance, ultimately restoring proper muscle function.
Indirect Method: A gentle stretch is applied to restricted fascia (connective tissue) and held until the fascia "unwinds" itself. The client will feel warming of the area being stretched as a result of increased blood flow. Direct Method: More of a deep tissue application whereby knuckles, elbows or other tools are used to slowly sink into the fascia, releasing each layer of fascia until the deep tissues are reached. Contrary to popular belief, deep tissue massage does not have to be painful, if the practitioner gradually releases each layer of tissue.
Positional release techniques typically "invite," rather than force, distressed and/or dysfunctional tissues into a relaxed state. In accordance with the client's feedback, the therapist moves the joint and affected muscle into a position of maximum ease, holds it there for an appropriate period of time and then, very slowly, returns it to its normal/neutral resting position, thereby relieving muscular pain.
Pressure is applied to the reflex points on the hands, feet and ears. The reflex points correspond to the body's internal organs, glands and structures. In effect, pressure on or palpation of a reflex point affects the corresponding anatomical structures and energy zones to stimulate normal physiological function, ultimately engaging the body's self-healing mechanisms and bringing the individual to an improved state of physical and mental well-being.
These sessions offer relief from the symptoms associated with sinusitis and TMJ.
Swedish massage is probably the most popular massage technique and is an ideal choice for inducing a deep state of relaxation that is quite rejuvenating. In Swedish massage, long gliding strokes, soft kneading strokes and light, rhythmic tapping strokes are combined with gentle movement of the client's joints to relieve muscle tension. Although this form of massage mostly benefits the more superficial layers of the muscles, it also helps to increase circulation, improve lymphatic function, bolster the immune system and, restore the body's homeostasis, among other things.
